Ten sites in the nature park are to receive anchoring systems that are kinder to nature. Sensors and measurements are also part of the project. Funding was confirmed back in March – renewed attention in October is not news of completed construction.

The current report has an older foundation

Telašćica's mooring project is back in the news following Morski's report on planned wastewater sensors on 12 October. The decisive primary source, however, is older: on 4 March the nature park announced the funding decision made the previous day. With a total value of around 2.54 million euros, the project receives just under two million euros in funding, equivalent to 78.7 per cent.

For readers, that date is more than a footnote. Renewed coverage neither means the project has been approved anew nor makes it automatically complete. The sources reviewed do not establish full commissioning with moorings available to book.

Why the attachment to the seabed matters

At ten sites, old concrete blocks are to be removed and replaced by geotechnically anchored systems. The park links this with protecting seagrass meadows and reefs. Also planned are sensors to detect wastewater discharges, satellite-based observation and studies of water, habitats and sediments.

The package includes education and a voluntary environmental pledge for visitors. The technology is therefore part of a broader conservation project. It is not evidence that every discharge is detected today or that an individual boat has already been identified as responsible.

What skippers should do with this information today

Planning a sailing trip still requires current information from the nature park: which moorings are usable, what conditions apply and how are they allocated? A project announcement does not replace that check. Nor do we infer a newly introduced blanket anchoring ban or a reservation system from it.

Our practical advice: clarify mooring rules before arrival, arrange wastewater disposal ashore and do not treat sensitive habitats as freely available parking space. If you see new buoys on site, do not infer their use solely from their colour or design. Only the operator's information makes them an option you can reliably plan around.
