The path along Kanal sv. Ante combines coastal views with a visitor centre about the meeting of the Krka and the sea. For a relaxed outing, three things need to stay separate: the walk, the exhibition and the boat trip to the sv. Nikola fortress.
Factor in the return from the start
The official route description runs from Paninkovac bay to the small island of Školjić in front of the sv. Nikola fortress. It gives 4.4 kilometres and approximately two hours of walking. Paninkovac and Škar on the road towards Zablaće are described as access points.
Walking the entire route and returning the same way works out to around 8.8 kilometres. The two hours are therefore not a reliable estimate for the outward walk, longer breaks, the exhibition and the return combined. Before setting off, decide whether you want to walk only part of the route or leave enough time for the full return.
In Minerska, the landscape gains another dimension
The visitor centre in Minerska bay explains the meeting of river and sea through its exhibition “Dodir rijeke i mora”. It focuses on the Krka estuary, its form and its habitats. Interpretation programmes and multimedia elements complement the view from the shore.
We recommend not simply squeezing the exhibition between two photo stops. Asking how fresh and salt water shape a landscape together changes the way you see the channel. Current opening hours and admission should be checked directly with the centre on +385 22 436 300 or through the operator's website; a general outing description does not imply daily opening.
Accessibility applies to specifically named areas
The operator describes the main exhibition building as accessible. It also lists the adapted path from Škar to the centre with five information stations, including Braille as well as Croatian and English texts. That is valuable planning information, but not a blanket guarantee for the entire 4.4-kilometre route.
If you depend on particular path widths, gentle slopes or assistance, discuss the precise access in advance. For everyone else too, weather, daylight and personal fitness determine how much walking makes sense. Not every visible ancillary structure is part of the area open to visitors.
The fortress is an outing of its own
Being able to walk close to sv. Nikola does not mean you can automatically enter the fortress from there. The official visitor website lists boat departures at 09:45 and 12:30 from Šibenik's Riva for 1 to 18 October. The visit and its tickets must be planned separately from the walk.
If you want to combine both on the same day, first check the boat trip that can actually be booked and plan the walk around it. A time buffer makes more sense than a schedule that stretches walking time, the return and travel to the Riva to the last minute. The times published up to the 18th must not simply be carried forward to later days in October.
