How one sample first led to a warning
A sample taken on 22 September exceeded the limit for E. coli. The authority therefore advised against bathing and announced further sampling.
The warning applied to one monitoring point and beach, not to all of Ston, Mali Ston Bay or Pelješac. The published notice did not determine the source of the pollution.
What the follow-up samples establish
The all-clear is based on tests from 23 and 24 September—two sampling days after the non-compliant result. According to the county, the short-term pollution had ended.
A further check within seven days was announced, but an announcement is not a result. Because no separately verified later result was found in the reviewed sources, we state only the confirmed sampling dates.
An all-clear also has a date
The publication on 26 September closes that specific incident. It does not automatically guarantee bathing-water quality on every later day, so visitors should still check the current official map and local notices before going.
The monitoring point, date and individual assessment all matter. A long-term beach classification is a different measure, and an old incident does not establish a permanent problem.
